Move Parliament around the UK.

I actually still feel this would be expensive, but be a really good idea.
We all know the problem with politics in the UK; every party ends up feeling the same. It’s as though after a year in office they all become the ‘Status Quo’ party and drift to the right. We’ve seen the most firebrand radicals turned into puppies, eager to support the establishment.
Why? They’re all subject to the influences and pressures of the Westminster Village. If you want to stop the effect and make parliament understand life outside London, then move parliament itself around the nation. It has actually been done in the past, so it can be done.
Six months in Westminster.
Six Months in Leeds.
Six Months in Cardiff.
Six Months in Edinburgh.
Then back to Westminster again.
It would be expensive and of course the establishment would fight it like mad, but it would be worth the expense.
Firstly it would help to loosen the dominance of London over the political and economic life of the nation.
It would greatly dilute the corrosive effect of lobbying and the ‘ruling class,’ who populate Westminster like flies around a honey pot.
MPs would actually know what life is like in the entire UK, from actually experiencing it. From property prices to hiring a cleaner, they’d know local problems first hand.
Plus it would regenerate the regions and pump money into the local economies and of course encourage the construction of better transport links.
Who knows, we might even get a PM who knows the price of a pint of milk in Cardiff or Leeds!
