It’s strange how we take time for granted, until it’s taken from us. Not real time, the death of eighty percent of the human race, though that happened too. We’re talking about something as basic as clocks that worked and a standard calendar everyone could work to.

 The survivors went back to the old ways, measuring time against ‘last autumn’ or the ‘bad snows two years ago’ or even the old standby ‘that was before grandpa died.’ No one ever talked about the invasion though; no one measured time by when just about all their friends and family died.

 Ishmael is the story of those terrible times and what came later….
